Monroe Scholars Book and Author Luncheon
Join VCU Alumni for the ninth annual Monroe Scholars Book and Author Luncheon, featuring award-winning author Lee Smith. She has written 17 works of fiction, including “Fair and Tender Ladies,” and has received many accolades, including the North Carolina Award for Literature and an Academy Award in Fiction from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Meet Smith at the luncheon and purchase an autographed copy of her most recent novel, “Dimestore,” a collection of personal essays about growing up in the Appalachian Mountains of southwestern Virginia.

Cost: $75 for an individual ticket or $600 per table of eight. $50 of each ticket and $400 of each table is a tax-deductible contribution.
Register: By April 25
Proceeds fund scholarships for the Monroe Scholars Book Award program, which provides a special recognition award and a $1,000 scholarship to high school students who meet the criteria of leadership and scholarship and who enroll at VCU.
