Parent and family initiatives
Parents and families are crucial to VCU’s success. Their philanthropy activates VCU initiatives and helps the university expand vital resources and opportunities for students. Just as important, their feedback through leadership gives us an inside look at the VCU student experience and insight into how the university can best serve its students.
VCU Family Leadership Circle
Parents and families can support the student experience through the VCU Family Fund. Gifts to the fund for 2024-25 will support student advocacy programs, the student emergency fund, student leadership programs, and the internship funding program at VCU.
You can join the VCU Family Leadership Circle with a $1,000 annual gift to the VCU Family Fund. VCU families will get to know other highly engaged VCU families, have future-focused conversations and programs with university senior leaders, spend more time with their students, and make a lasting impact on VCU. You can become a founding member of the Family Leadership Circle when you join in the 2024-25 academic year.
In addition, members may receive the following:
- Access to annual programming and engagement opportunities
- Invitation to apply to Family Leadership Board
- Informational gatherings and social receptions
- Exclusive opportunities for family interactions with university senior leadership
- Commencement reception and reserved seating (if student is graduating that year)

Parent Leadership Advisory Council
“As parents, we play a crucial role in guiding our children through college by providing emotional support and practical advice on how to navigate both adulthood and career paths. This significantly impacts their confidence and success. Our involvement not only benefits our children but also fosters a stronger relationship between us.”
– Keedra (B.S.’15; M.D.A.’19) and Charles Bond
Co-chairs, Parent Leadership Advisory Council
The VCU Parent Leadership and Advisory Council plays a vital role in supporting the university by providing philanthropic support, advocating to prospective students and families, hosting engagement opportunities with university leadership and alumni, and attending meetings throughout the year to share strategic insights and feedback on parent and family initiatives. This group of volunteers help to enhance the student experience, strengthen the university’s reputation and strengthen connections among VCU's parent and family community.
To learn more about this volunteer opportunity, email Anthony Muscatello, director, parent and family initiatives.
VCU Family Council
Another important way to get involved as a VCU family member is through the VCU Family Council, a group of volunteer parents and family members who advise the university on family programs and services as well as matters that impact students.
